Two Exceptional
Sales around
Equita Lyon
A selection of the best proven 1.60m mares. Two live, interactive sales, in the room at Equita Lyon and online. A managed elite development program from foal to Grand Prix. Top performance is not hoped for. It is engineered.
We begin with the dam.
the Selection
Welcome to 160Foals. The world’s first foal auction built entirely on the proven 1.60m dam-line record. Three categories, one rule: every mare verified.
Below, the three tiers of the selection.
01
J160 · Jumped 1.60m
A proven athlete in her own right.
A mare who personally performed at the international 1.60m level, reflecting the rare genetic qualities required to reach the top of the sport.
on average of sibilings at 1.60m
02
P160 · Produced 1.60m
Genetic value already expressed.
Her offspring has reached 1.60m Grand Prix level. Her genetic contribution is validated by the performance she has already passed on.
on average of offspring jump 1.60m (as of today)
03
F160 · Full sister, 1.60m
The same elite genetic blueprint.
Direct genetic identity with the best international jumper. Same sire, same dam, the architecture of the champion repeats.
of siblings at 1.60m
The data behind
Selection isn't luck. It's data.
Three selection methods. One destination, 1.60m. Each marker represents a dramatic increase in the probability of reaching the top of the sport.

Nina Mallevaey
Grand Prix Rider · France
Currently in the world top 10 and the highest-ranked female rider in the world, Nina is particularly drawn to 160Foals’ data-driven approach to dam-line analysis. Her own top mares, Dynastie de Beaufour and Nikka van de Bisschop, are powerful examples of the importance of elite maternal families, both coming from dam lines with more than 20% of siblings reaching the international 1.60m level.

Olympic medallist, legendary horseman, lifelong breeder, and one of the most influential dealers of Grand Prix horses across the 20th and 21st centuries. Decades spent at the very top of the sport have reinforced his conviction that the strongest predictor of greatness remains the depth and consistency of the dam line.
Trusted by Haras de Kreisker, Ashford Farm and Stal Optimus, three of Europe’s most respected sport horse breeding programmes.

The ceiling of conventional breeding
We checked the 2005 cohort. Mares are far better genetic engineers than sires.

Beyond the Auction
An orchestrated journey from foal to Grand Prix.
We offer an optional Concierge Service, an end-to-end development program managed by our team. Every element aligned to maximise your foal’s potential.
Elite pastures, herd dynamics, welfare-first growth.
Hand-selected grounds at our partner farms. Open ranges. The foal develops natural movement, herd intelligence, and structural strength before any training pressure begins.
Meet the Founder

“Breeding is not about certainty. It is about increasing the probability of greatness. At 160Foals, every decision begins with proven performance, proven families, and data that withstands scrutiny. No one can promise a winner. But few maximize the odds the way we do.”

Frequently Asked
The questions serious buyers ask.
If yours isn’t listed, write us. We reply within 24 hours.
How is selection actually verified?
Every mare is cross-referenced against the Hippomundo database and partner studbook records. Competition data behind every claim. No mare enters the selection without a verifiable 1.60m result, her own, her offspring’s, or her full brothers’ and sisters’.
What veterinary documentation is provided?
Before the sale, every foal will undergo a full veterinary clinical examination conducted by an independent equine veterinarian, covering general health, locomotion, conformation, heart, lungs, eyes, skin and overall soundness.
And, in a first for a foal auction, every foal will also be officially measured and benchmarked against standard growth curves, providing buyers with an additional objective indicator of physical development and projected size.
Who can bid?
Anyone can register to bid. All registrations are subject to approval by the 160Foals team, ensuring a curated community of serious buyers and preserving the integrity of the auction. Registration closes at 10:15 pm CET on Saturday 31 October for the first sale and at 6:30 pm CET on Tuesday 3 November for the second sale.
Where is the auction held?
There are two sales. Saturday 31 October 2026 at 10:30 pm CET at Equita Lyon, right after the Equita Masters (7 foals). You can bid in the room or online on 160foals.com. Tuesday 3 November 2026 at 7:00 pm CET, 100% online on 160foals.com and broadcast live (24 embryos). The format is designed for serious international participants from any time zone.
What about transport, training and after-care?
Transport and insurance to the new home are a standard part of every sale, we can assist you in handling them end-to-end. The 160 Concierge programme is the optional eight-year development arc: pasture (0–3yo), backing (3–4), young-horse rider placement (4–5), and Grand Prix pathway (7+). One accountable partner.
